South Essex Homes is continually seeking to improve the energy efficiency of its housing stock. As part of this objective, they have set up HEATS (Home Energy Assistance & Technology Scheme) and Essex Insulation has been appointed as their Energy Efficiency Consulting Partner. The scheme will involve carrying out analysis and ‘in-home’ surveys to determine the energy efficiency status of the housing stock and to identify possible improvements.

In the first phase of the scheme, 50 properties are being surveyed between 1st and 30th June. The surveys are being passed to South Essex Homes for them to assess. Where improvements can be made, not only will residents benefit from warmer, more comfortable homes, there may also be an opportunity to reduce household heating and/or energy bills.

Essex Insulation has worked on a number of programmes with Southend Borough Council and South Essex Homes with the most recent being the ‘ReallySmartHouse’ project. This was targeted at improving energy efficiency in Council properties in Southend. In total over 40 homes were retrofitted including the installation of energy monitors, photovoltaic panels and insulation.
