Northgate donates £1,000 to InBuild’s charity of choice

Northgate Vehicle Hire recently rewarded Essex Insulation with a cheque for £1,000 to be donated to its charity of choice. The donation was made to celebrate the success of the ‘Going for Growth’ initiative, part of Northgate’s targeted growth plan in the South.

With St. Luke’s Hospice chosen as the deserving cause, both the Mayor of Basildon and Northgate’s CEO, Bob Contreras, joined Essex Insulation at Northgate’s Basildon branch where Contreras proudly presented the cheque to the charity on Wednesday 20th November.

Bob Contreras, CEO of Northgate Vehicle Hire, commented:
“The donation day was a huge success and I would like to thank everybody who attended, including Councillor Mo Larkin, the Mayor of Basildon. Northgate’s Going for Growth campaign in the south of the UK has been a tremendous achievement – with over 1,000 vehicles on hire from our five new sites. I am thrilled to present the £1,000 charity donation to Essex Insulation, as it acts as an opportunity for us to thank local businesses for their continued support and to highlight our commitment to the communities in which we operate.”

Cliff Eves, Operations Director at Essex Insulation, commented:
“We are delighted with Northgate’s donation. As a local company operating within the community, it is important that the suppliers we use have a strong commitment to the local area. Northgate’s flexible approach and support for SMEs originally attracted us to use the company’s services.”

Heather Penny, Corporate Fundraiser for St. Luke’s Hospice, said:
“We are extremely grateful to both Northgate and Essex Insulation for the generous donation of £1,000. St. Luke’s Hospice cares for local residents whose illnesses are no longer curable, so the donated money will be used to help comfort local families during extremely [...]

Green Deal Authorised Provider

Green Deal Providers arrange Green Deal Plans, provide finance and arrange for the installation of the agreed energy efficiency improvements.

Essex Insulation recently applied to become a Green Deal Provider, enabling the company to offer the full range of Green Deal Services. The Secretary of State assesses all applications and decides if the applicant is suitable to be authorised. We are delighted to confirm that our application was successful and we are now authorised as a Green Deal Provider.

As such, we are now members of the Green Deal Ombudsman and Investigation Service, we comply with the Green Deal Code of Practice and we are authorised users of the EPC register.

We will shortly be able to access the Green Deal Cashback Scheme. This scheme allows householders to claim money from the Government on energy saving improvements such as insulation and boiler replacements. Customers who have an assessment and agree a Green Deal Plan or quote will be able to apply for a voucher, redeemable as soon as the work is completed. Applications for cashback can only be made through a Green Deal Provider such as Essex Insulation.

Winning Week for Insulation Contractors

Our contracting department has reported a noticeable increase in the volume of work coming through for tender recently. The results of this are now apparent and we have been successful in winning four contracts in the last week alone.

Two of the contracts require flat roof insulation; one is for 50 new build units in Kent and the other is for 30 new build units in Harrow.

We were also successful in winning a contract for external wall insulation to 14 new build units in West London. And finally, we were awarded a contract for loft insulation to Leyton College.

Statistics just released reveal that the last 3 months have seen the fastest rate of housebuilding since the crash in 2008. It seems that a strong and sustainable upturn has taken place in the construction industry and Essex Insulation is very pleased to be part of that increase in activity.

Radio Insulation Campaign

Essex Insulation is pleased to announce the launch of an advertising campaign on Heart Essex Radio. The campaign started on Monday 11th November and will run for a full year through the Chelmsford and Southend transmitters.

There are two 30 second adverts; the first highlights our Boiler Servicing Offer and the second features a case study about some of our customers who received a substantial grant towards their External Wall Insulation. There are another three 10 second commercials highlighting energy efficiency funding for landlords, boiler replacement and free insulation for eligible homeowners. Further details of all these schemes can be found on our website.

The adverts were recorded by a well-known celebrity with an instantly recognisable voice! He was an absolute pleasure to work with and took great care to ensure that the recordings were spot-on.

Listen out for the new commercials on Heart Essex 96-107.

FORS Accredited Companies

Essex Insulation is delighted to announce that it has recently achieved accreditation with the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS). The scheme was introduced to raise the level of quality within fleet operations. As a FORS accredited company, Essex Insulation is recognised as being committed to becoming safer, greener and more efficient.

There are four key areas to the standard: Management, Vehicles, Drivers and Operations. Each category specifies the exact requirement that must be adhered to, the purpose of that requirement and how the requirement should be met. The standard includes specifications regarding vehicle inspection and maintenance, safety equipment and driver licencing, qualifications, training and health.

In order to gain accreditation, Essex Insulation was inspected by an independent FORS assessor to ensure that the company had the relevant management systems, policies and procedures in place. Moving forward, Essex Insulation will continue to look for areas where further improvements can be made to driver performance, fleet efficiency and customer service.

Gas and Electric Prices Rise

Energy supplier SSE has announced that it is increasing gas and electricity prices by an average of 8.2%, affecting 4.4 million customers. The other energy suppliers are likely to follow SSE’s lead and introduce similar price rises, so the National Insulation Association (NIA) is urging householders to act now and insulate.

Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the NIA commented: “Home insulation is the most cost effective way of saving on domestic energy bills. An astounding 59% of heat can be lost through uninsulated walls and roofs; but with the right measures put in place, householders could be making huge savings on their energy bills.”

There are around 7 million solid wall properties, 5 million cavity wall properties and around 7 million lofts in the UK that still need to be insulated. This existing housing stock is responsible for a huge amount of wasted energy and is therefore one of the biggest targets for the Government’s energy saving schemes.

DECC Statistical Release – September 2013

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) released its monthly report on Green Deal and ECO. The key points of the report are as follows:

194,751 measures were installed under ECO up to the end of July. The measures were a mix of cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, boiler upgrades and solid wall insulation.
71,210 Green deal assessments were lodged up to the end of August.
By the end of August, 5,733 Cashback Vouchers had been paid, most of which were for boiler replacements.
