Travel Lodge recently opened its 71st London hotel, designed with the company’s new upgraded contemporary branding.

The Project

InBuild was appointed by the main contractor, DNA-IC Ltd, to carry out all work to the façade as an approved installer of the Wetherby external wall insulation system. Work to the exterior began in March 2017 and the hotel opened its doors in December following a rapid and efficient building programme. The work was divided into three phases with the two end sections being done first and second and the middle section filled in at the end.

160mm EPS was fitted to all external walls, except for the areas behind the cladding which were insulated with 50mm phenolic. The boards were mechanically fixed with the addition of reinforcing adhesive, and Rockwool fire breaks were fitted both horizontally and vertically for effective fire protection. Mineral fibre mesh was bedded into the top third of the base coat, and then a further tight levelling coat was applied. This was followed by primer and a silicone, textured finish top coat. Cedar cladding was fixed as per the architect’s design with stainless steel fittings.

The Result

The new 101 room hotel has become an impressive new landmark building in Harrow, and is already attracting visitors as it’s conveniently placed only 5 minutes’ walk from the town centre and 15 minutes from central London.
